Issue #23: Venice Bienniale (8 June 2013)

Issue #23: Venice Bienniale

We hope you enjoy this whirlwind preview and "bird's-eye view" of the 55th Venice Biennale.

As stated in The Wall Street Journal:
The Venice Biennale, which opened June 1, has become the Olympics of the contemporary art work, a century-old event in which nations send their most promising artists to exhibit in pavilions and palazzos across the watery city. Instead of medals, artists compete for fame on the global art field.
The 55th Venice Biennale, the world's most prestigious art fair, features national pavilions from 88 countries, 10 presenting work for the first time – including the Vatican. No official theme ties together the pavilions, but several ideas are emerging as favorites, including greed, collective actions and the boundaries of the physical world.

We are also looking forward to seeing you in at the Westport Arts Center on Friday, June 14 from 6 - 8pm for a festive Opening Reception of "Bird's-Eye View" from the Hall Collection. View 18 aerial view artworks from 12 major contemporary artists. While you're in, enjoy a raw bar, hotdog stand, cold beverages, and DJ on the deck. We hope to see you there!
